Joshua 2:1-24
Joshua was the new leader of God’s people. God told Joshua to lead the people into the Promised Land. God promised to be with Joshua. “Be strong and courageous,” God said.
Joshua sent two spies to Jericho to look at the land. The king of Jericho heard about the spies and sent soldiers to find them. The spies were in the house of a woman named Rahab. She hid them on the roof of her house under some stalks of flax. When the soldiers came to her house, she told the soldiers that the men had already left the city.
The soldiers hurried out of the city to find the spies. Then Rahab helped the spies escape. Her house was on the wall of the city. The spies climbed down over the wall using a rope. Rahab asked the spies to keep her safe when they took over the land. The spies promised that no one in her house would be hurt if she left the rope hanging in the window.
